Mr John Williams was elected to Federal Parliament in 2007 as Senator for NSW and was sworn in on 26 August 2008. Mr Williams was in the senate for eleven years working across a wide range of issues and was involved in a variety of changes in Legislation for Australia.
Mr Williams was born in Jamestown SA but has lived most of his life in the Inverell district in the New England region of NSW. Prior to entering politics, he had been a truck driver, shearer, farmer and a small business owner.
Mr Williams is currently the Chair of the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Council; he was appointed on 17 April 202 for a term of three years.
