Matthew Owen

Matthew has over 15 years’ experience in the asbestos assessment and occupational hygiene field.  Matthew has extensive experience both in laboratory work, and in fieldwork, including surveys, risk assessments and consulting for all levels of industry and government.

He volunteers his time as a technical assessor for NATA, where he has assessed various asbestos analysis laboratories nationwide in an impartial and professional manner, with excellent knowledge of the technical requirements and the various standards involved in the testing process.

He has developed and presented various British Occupational Hygiene Society international proficiency training courses specifically tailoring them for Australian conditions and requirements. These training courses cover asbestos surveying and risk assessment, asbestos analysis and identification, and asbestos removal and inspection requirements.

Matthew’s primary work passion is in training and awareness around asbestos management.  Providing asbestos awareness training is a vital link in ensuring that employers and employees are able to understand their responsibilities to ensure the safe management of asbestos risks in the workplace.
